Gemini Live vs. Google Assistant: What’s Changed?

The biggest distinction between Gemini Live and its predecessor is Gemini has a better screen awareness. It has better contextual understanding like explaining videos, generating images. Like Google assistant Gemini can do other tasks too like setting reminders, question answers etc. Some prominent features of Gemini Live are mentioned below.

Natural Conversation

Google Assistant has long been hailed for its voice recognition, but it still struggles with misinterpreting speech patterns, accents, and awkward phrasing. Gemini Live addresses these shortcomings by offering smoother, more “natural” conversations, reducing the need for specific voice commands.

App Integration

While both Gemini Live and Google Assistant can interact with apps, Gemini offers more advanced cross-app functionality. It can do multi tasking like switching between apps. It can access email and other apps seamlessly.

AI Image Generation

Gemini offers AI Image Generation facility even you are using messaging apps or any other app. While google assistant was not capable of doing so till date.

The Competition: Microsoft Copilot

Google isn’t alone in this space. Microsoft’s Copilot, integrated into Windows 11, also received significant upgrades this week. The newly introduced Copilot Vision allows users to interact with content on their screen. Ask relevant questions. It provides voice assistance like Gemini.

Microsoft Copilot has some limitations. It supports lesser range of websites then Gemini. Moreover Copilot is more privacy conscious. It do not save the data of previous sessions while Gemini stores data of last 72 hours.

The Actual Limitation

Gemini Live automatically activates your phone’s microphone when in use, and it continuously processes conversations, storing them temporarily in the Gemini Apps Activity log for up to 72 hours. For users concerned about privacy, this feature may raise red flags.

Conclusion

World is reshaping and using Ai in daily life. Google’s Gemini provides better assistance to an android user. It gives many AI features for free. But there are some privacy issues. We are hopeful that google will sort the privacy concerns of user.
